Sunday in the Park is a relaxed morning of fun, food, brass bands and steam train rides.
Brass bands play inside a graceful old band rotunda in Queens Park while the unique sounds of the locally made steam driven calliope echo across the park.
Take a 'Stroll of Queens Park' with a costumed guide and explore Maryborough's beautiful historic park. 'Strolls' depart at 9.30am and 10.30am from the white picket
fence near the band hall.
All morning, the Mary Ann, a full sized replica of Queensland's first steam locomotive built in Maryborough in 1873, chugs along the riverside taking passengers through
Queens Park and the Mary River Parklands.
Children and adults can also climb onboard one of the many miniature steam engines, which run on a circuit around Queens Park. The sight of little legs and
not so little legs dangling from tiny carriages as the trains weave around the track is guaranteed to delight.
It’s a tradition begun by the city’s Model Engineers and Live Steamers Association over 30 years ago and one that uniquely captures Maryborough’s carefree,
family-friendly lifestyle.
NOTE:
All the museums are open from 10am 3pm Monday to Sunday.
Free Guided Walking Tour departs City Hall at 9am Monday to Saturday.
